Chung-yong is up for the cup

Prior to linking-up with his international team-mates, Chung-Yong has spoken of his desire to lift the Asia Cup with South Korea.

The winger missed Wednesday evening's 1-0 defeat at
Stamford Bridge having departed England
to prepare for the tournament following the victory over West Bromwich Albion on Boxing Day.

And he could be absent for a further six fixtures depending how far
South Korea progress in the competition, which commences in Qatar
on January 7.
South Korea have been drawn in Group C alongside Australia, India and Bahrain
. The top two teams in each group will progress to the quarter-final stages.

Looking ahead to the tournament, Chung-Yong said: "Of course, we are going there to win.

"We shouldn't underestimate any teams in the Asia Cup and we should put all the effort into every game.

"It will be very hot in Qatar and very different to what I have become used to playing in England, but I don't think that there will be any problems for me.

"My
Bolton team-mates have been joking that they want South Korea to get eliminated in the first round so that I come back to Bolton
as soon as I can!

"But on a serious note, they wished me the best of luck, told me not to get injured and they hope that I can come back with a medal to say that we have won the cup.

"Kevin Davies said that he would try to watch all the
South Korea
matches and that he is supporting our country. He also said that he would be in touch with me to see how I am going on."
South Korea, who won the tournament in 1956 and 1960, play their first game against Bahrain in Doha
on January 10.
